The Role:

As Design Office Database Administrator, you will have to manage and improve our PLM, CAD system and Design Office software tools

Furthermore, you will have to support ERP system development with PLM software and manage various Department database information tracking and relative communications.


What you will do:

  • PLM and CAD system management and improvement
- Design release processes management and service
- Car BoM and Tooling BoM management
- CAD utilities (including creation of new application for designers benefit)
- Generate and issue weekly reports such as design release tracker and database orphans

  • Primary contact between DO and supplier support engineers
  • Development of new and maintenance of existing software tools

What you need:

  • High level understanding of database construction and use.

  • Administration and management of the Vehicle Dynamics group

Internship Programme Mechanical Design

Scuderia Toro Rosso is looking for innovative and academically excellent students who share our passion for making the race car go faster to join our Mechanical Design team within the Aerodynamics department in Oxfordshire. During the 13 month Undergraduate Internship, you will be trained to use our state-of-the-art systems and will be directly involved in the performance of the current race car through development in the Wind Tunnel. You will be working as an integral part of the team, in a friendly and relaxed environment that favours creativity and inspirational design.


The first few months will be spent learning our tools and methods while you are integrated into the group. Your progression from that point will only be limited by your capabilities and endeavour.


What you will do:

  • Optimise component designs around their performance under load;
  • Complete FEA simulations on components tested in the Wind Tunnel;
  • Take on larger scale design projects as part of a small team;
What you need:

  • Be at least 1 year into your undergraduate degree, and to be continuing your studies beyond the end of the Internship;
  • Working towards a relevant technical degree, such as MechEng, Automotive etc.;
  • On track for a 1st or high 2:1;
  • Focused on achieving excellence within a fast-paced team environment;
  • Capability of working to deadlines.

The role:

In this role you will be responsible for the assembling of the scale models, fitting and testing of high quality components to tight deadlines.


What you will do:

You will be accountable for working in the model shop, preparing and pre-fitting parts and assemblies. You will work with the model shop, designers and aerodynamicists’ to develop the scale models and working practices to assist in the development of our F1 car. Moreover, you will be attending the wind tunnel tests and performing changes in the wind tunnel on the model under direction of the Duty Aerodynamicist.

In this role it will be essential to create effective professional relationship and good communication with the whole department, ensuring a constant improvement. As well as you will be expected to carry out all task to the exacting standards within tight deadlines, and work on some occasional night shifts. 

What you need:

  • Model making experience
  • Sound engineering background
  • Automotive and engineering experience ideally in F1
  • Experience of wind tunnel testing would be an advantage, but training and support will be provided
  • High attention to detail, accuracy and precision in tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge in using computer and main software (Microsoft Office Suite)

Il ruolo:

In questo ruolo, inserito nel dipartimento Ricerca e Sviluppo e con il supporto dell Ingegnere Tecnologo, il candidato ideale si occuperà di:

- produrre e testare componenti vettura prototipali

- testare nuovi processi e tecnologie di produzione

- testare nuovi materiali


Le tue responsabilità:

- effettuare in maniera completamente autonoma sia la laminazione che la finitura di ogni singolo componente prototipale

- assicurarsi che i materiali necessari per la lavorazione siano sempre disponibili

- assicurarsi che la qualità del pezzo finito raggiunga gli standard richiesti dalle procedure

- produrre, con il supporto del Tecnologo, una reportistica che evidenzi pro e contro delle nuove tecnologie utilizzate


Requisiti richiesti:

- Esperienza di almeno 6 anni nella laminazione e finitura di componenti di materiale composito in fibra di carbonio

- Conoscenza dei processi produttivi dei materiali compositi fibrorinforzati "pre-impregnati"

- Capacità di lettura disegno tecnico
